It is the fourth Thursday in February, and that means it is National Chili Day. There are a million ways to make chili, but this simple recipe comes from an amazing local woman—my grandmother, the late Ann Turner.
Ann Turner’s Easy Chili
- 1 can of chili beans
- 1 can of rotel
- 1 small tomato paste
- 1 medium can of tomato sauce
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 package of chili mix
- Chili powder
- 1 pound of ground beef
Brown the beef and onions together and drain them.

Put all ingredients together in a crock pot. Let it simmer for 2 or 3 hours until the onions are cooked.
Add chili powder to taste.
