Christmas morning in Barnesville began with sirens instead of sleigh bells after police responded to a shooting.
One person was injured during a shooting incident early Christmas morning on Kate Court in Barnesville, according to the Barnesville Police Department’s Lt. Michael Rainer.
Police say officers responded to a call of a person shot at a residence at approximately 12:50 a.m. on December 25, 2025. When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with a female resident of the home. The resident said that an individual kicked in the door of the home, and gunfire was exchanged between two male subjects.
According to police, one of the individuals involved fled the scene, and another was transported to the hospital with injuries. The extent of those injuries has not been released.
Barnesville Police says the event stemmed from a domestic violence situation, and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Barnesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate the case. No additional details, including names or possible charges, have been released at this time.
