Lamar County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jessica Watson announced Monday evening that a decision has been made for the position of Assistant Superintendent of School Climate and Operations.
Mr. Jake Harris, current principal of Lamar County High School, has been selected for the role following Dr. Watson’s recommendation and the approval of the Lamar County Board of Education at the August 11, 2025, meeting.
Harris will continue to serve as principal at Lamar County High School until a successor is chosen, at which point he will transition to his new position at the district level. He has served as principal since 2023.
Grant Turner is the editor of the Barnesville Buzz and an educator, coach, and writer based in Barnesville, Georgia. He shares stories that bridge community, faith, and personal growth. In addition to teaching and coaching, Grant is Director of Musical Worship and a Sunday School teacher at New Hope Baptist Church in Zebulon, Georgia. He lives in Barnesville with his wife, Haley.
