Lamar County Schools Receive Excellent Accreditation Scores

Superintendent of Lamar County Schools, Dr. Jute Wilson, released a statement today regarding the district’s recent Cognia accreditation report, which concluded on Thursday, January 30, 2025. This independent review occurs every six years and evaluates the work of the school district in various ways.

Dr. Wilson stated, “We are happy to report Lamar County Schools exceeded the Cognia Network Average on all 11 standards.” Beating the average score of 296, Lamar County earned a score of 329.

According to Cognia, Lamar County Schools’ greatest strengths are the following:

  1. School and district leaders prioritize the well-being of students and staff, setting high expectations for behavior and performance.
  2. Board of Education and administration actively pursue improvement and growth.
  3. Data-driven professional development is used to improve instructional strategies.

Dr. Wilson added, “It is encouraging for an outside evaluating entity to witness and confirm what we already know, great things are happening in Lamar County Schools. Our staff works very hard to offer an outstanding educational experience for the students of Lamar County.”

The full report will be discussed at the Board of Education meeting on March 10, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
