Lamar County Middle School girls’ soccer team had a spring break to remember. While many of their peers were enjoying vacation and time off from school, these soccer players put in hard work leading them to the title of Middle Georgia Middle School Athletic League champions for the 2025 season.
Lamar County hosted Pike County Middle at home for the championship game on Wednesday, April 2. The Trojans sought redemption from the 2024 season when Pike’s team claimed the championship victory. At the end of regulation, the score was 2-2 leading to double overtime with a final score of 5-3 in favor of the Trojans. The team celebrated their victory with Head Coach Kelly Adamson and Assistant Coach Walter Geiger.

The team had a perfect 14-0 season and outscored their opponents 72-9. The Trojans’ five points during the championship game were secured by Kelaiah Watson who scored twice and Lizbeth Garcia who scored once. The two remaining points were own goals, meaning the opposing team misjudged the ball in the goal area and scored for the Trojans. Goalie Ellie Kate Moore was key to Lamar’s defensive success with 13 saves during the game.
