The undefeated Lamar County football team topped off the 2025 Homecoming Week with a 27–0 victory over the Towers Titans on Friday night at Trojan Field. They are now 6-0 for the first time since 2019.
The Trojans held Towers to just 10 total yards of offense and two first downs the entire night.

Head Coach Travis Ellington praised both the performance and the preparation that went into it. “I was really proud of our players for the way they handled homecoming week. We had some really good days of practice. The players have been working hard these last few weeks on staying focused and hungry to continue to get better and keep working to reach our goals.”
Quarterback Ross Hamrick completed 7 of 9 passes for 65 yards and added 44 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. The Trojans racked up 232 total yards on 51 plays. Jayden Hillman had 37 rushing yards on nine carries. Josh McDade and Josiah Chambers each had 21 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Lamar County forced the Titans into negative situations throughout the night. Kaden Carter led the unit with nine tackles, including one for a loss. Jeremy Beach added two tackles, a tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Armoni Reid had three tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack, and the freshman nearly had a scoop-and-score before the play was blown dead due to his helmet rolling off his noggin. AJ Vereen contributed three tackles and a forced fumble, while Jermaine Doctor finished with three tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack.
Ellington emphasized that the team’s mindset during this pivotal point of the season has been a key focus. “Most teams are really excited and focused at the beginning of the year and toward the end of the year, but tend to lose focus and energy in the middle of the year,” he said. “You see it all the time, how teams lose games in the middle of the season that they should have won. We have been trying to keep our focus and energy on one game at a time each week.”
Thunder Alley was rolling with fans and alumni. “What a great crowd for homecoming!” Ellington exclaimed. “We want to thank all the Trojan fans for supporting us. Please keep it up and pack out the games. Our players love it!”
