The people of Lamar County are preparing for upcoming winter weather as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a “Winter Storm Watch” in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. This announcement follows today’s (Monday) temperatures, with wind chills as low as 5 to 10 degrees below zero in some parts of Georgia.
The NWS predicts a chance of flurries in the morning followed by a chance of snow showers after 11 AM. The chance of precipitation is 40%, with accumulation of 1-2 inches possible.
The winter weather is predicted to impact roadways, particularly from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning. The NWS has advised drivers to plan for icy road conditions and exercise caution if traveling, and of course, it is advised that drivers remain off the roads.
