LC Football Looks to Bounce Back Against Monticello: Stats from Social Circle
On Friday, October 25, the Lamar County Trojans faced a challenging game on the road against Social Circle High School, where they fell 27-7 to the Redskins. After the game, Coach Travis Ellington gave his thoughts. “(Social Circle) is always a tough place to play. Our kids had a good week of practice and were prepared to play. We had chances in the game to win, but penalties and mistakes were too many to overcome and get a victory.” Lamar County now sits at second in the region standings, disappointing news for a program that was hoping to be region champions for its third straight season. Now the Trojans must defeat the Monticello Hurricanes this Friday to secure a home playoff game in the first round of the postseason.

Coach Ellington emphasized the importance of practice and the home-field advantage at Trojan Field. This game will also be Senior Night, and marching band members, cheerleaders, cross-country runners, football players, and JROTC members will be recognized before the football game. The first 700 fans through the gates at Trojan Field will receive a complimentary cowbell. At 6:45, the Silver Wings parachuters will deliver the game ball before kickoff. So get to Thunder Alley early, enjoy the show, and “shake down the thunder” for Lamar County’s class of 2025. The Hurricanes have not beaten the Trojans since 1992. Lamar County leads the series historically (9-2), and has won the last 8 games in the series.
