On Sunday, December 7, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., 218 Main Street in downtown Barnesville sustained significant damage after a one-vehicle accident involving a red Ford Fusion. The building is home to Main Street Nutrition.

According to Barnesville Chief of Police Belinda Penamon, twenty-year-old Marquez Smith was traveling northeast on Thomaston Street/Main Street at an excessive rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the storefront. No other structures were damaged. The surveillance video below shows two individuals exiting the vehicle after the crash.

Main Street Nutrition joked on its Facebook page that it “always wanted a drive-through,” but this is probably not the design they had in mind.

Business owner Dianna Mattison said a temporary front wall is already being installed while plans for a permanent repair are underway. “We plan to be open tomorrow (Monday). Barnesville needs its tea fix!” she said.

Tire marks starting near United Bank and Barnesville Presbyterian Church show how far the vehicle traveled as it lost control before striking the Main Street Nutrition building.
The tire marks continue up the curb and pedestrian sidewalk.

There was no one in the building when the accident occurred.

Chief Penamon said the Georgia State Patrol is assisting with the investigation, and there were no injuries.

Charges or citations are currently unknown.
