Community members across Lamar County are invited to take part in an important conversation about improving literacy at a special Literacy Matters meeting on Tuesday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Milner Library.
The meeting is free and open to the public and is designed to bring together individuals who care about strengthening reading and literacy efforts in Lamar County.
The event’s organizers are especially encouraging attendance from professional volunteers, concerned citizens, and loved ones who are impacted by illiteracy.
The purpose of the gathering is to brainstorm practical ways to tackle illiteracy across Lamar County and to build momentum for community-based solutions.

Grant Turner is the editor of the Barnesville Buzz and an educator, coach, and writer based in Barnesville, Georgia. He shares stories that bridge community, faith, and personal growth. In addition to teaching and coaching, Grant is Director of Musical Worship and a Sunday School teacher at New Hope Baptist Church in Zebulon, Georgia. He lives in Barnesville with his wife, Haley.
