After weeks of uncertainty following the Market Street fire on the night of March 2, 2026, a familiar business is finally returning to its home base.

During the weeks following the fire, Bankston’s continued to serve its patrons despite being displaced. The business temporarily operated out of The Best Little Hair House on College Drive, while some stylists also worked from other locations across town, including Salon on Main on Main Street, Heavenly Hair Co on Zebulon Street, and Salon Thairapy on Market Street.

Now the business is inviting the community to celebrate alongside them.

The event will feature bouncy houses for kids, barbecue with cole slaw and chips, live music, and funnel cakes for the first 100 guests.

Several local organizations are helping make the day possible.

New Salem Baptist Church in Griffin will provide the food, while Center Point Church of Griffin will bring live music. Funnel cakes will be served by Top It Off Funnel Cakes, and Bouncing Chicken Rentals will provide the fun for kids.

Bankston’s Barber Shop and Salon has been a longstanding part of the community, operating in Barnesville since 1938, and after a time away, Bankston’s is back home.
