Gordon State College alumnus and Foundation Trustee Thomas “Tog” Goss was honored for his service to higher education, healthcare and students across Georgia.
Goss received the Alumni and Distinguished Friends Award during the 2026 University System of Georgia Foundation Board of Regents’ Scholarship & Awards Gala on August 22 at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
He was recognized in the State Colleges category for his longtime support of Gordon State College, healthcare education, and efforts to expand opportunities for students.
A Gordon State alumnus and healthcare executive, Goss currently serves as CEO of Putnam General Hospital. He previously served as chief operating officer of Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin and also serves as a trustee of the Gordon State College Foundation.
“Tog Goss represents the kind of leadership and service that makes Gordon State College and our communities stronger,” GSC President Dr. Russell Crutchfield said. “His commitment to developing Georgia’s healthcare workforce, expanding opportunities for students and investing in the communities we serve reflects the very best of Highlander Nation.”
Goss has also established an endowed scholarship for students in Gordon State’s LPN/Paramedic Bridge to ASN pathway.
The scholarship is aimed at helping reduce financial barriers for non-traditional students while also supporting the training of healthcare professionals who can serve rural communities throughout the region.
In addition to his financial support, Goss serves on Gordon State’s Nursing and Health Sciences Advisory Board and works with students through mentorship, speaking engagements and professional guidance.
The annual University System of Georgia Foundation Gala supports need-based scholarships for students attending Georgia’s public colleges and universities while recognizing students, faculty, alumni, donors and supporters from across the state. This year’s event included the theme “Sea of Dreams.”
The honor recognized Goss’ continued support of Gordon State, healthcare education, and expanding opportunities for students.
