Trojans Close Football Season with Fourth Consecutive Winning Record

Lamar County wrapped up its football season last week after a 21-10 loss at Northeast in Macon on November 22. For the fourth consecutive season, the Trojans achieved a winning record, highlighting the program’s return to consistency.

Head Coach Travis Ellington expressed gratitude for his team’s effort, saying, “We had a good season. I was really proud of our kids and how they fought and battled the entire game. We just came up short.”

It was a cold night at Thompson Stadium, and both teams were coming off big wins from the first round. The Raiders were the first to strike gold early in the first quarter, taking an early 8-point lead after earning a two-point conversion. However, the Trojans answered in the second quarter with an 8-yard rushing touchdown by Kaden Carter. The Trojans took the lead after a 36-yard field goal by Caleb Miller. The score was 10-8 in favor of Lamar County going into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Northeast scored on a 26-yard pass in the endzone to take the lead in the fourth. To seal the deal, a Northeast ball carrier tiptoed down the sideline for a 13-yard touchdown run.

Looking ahead, Ellington remains optimistic about the program’s future. “We are looking forward to all the players we have coming back next year and excited about the players we have coming. The future is bright for the Lamar County Trojans!”
