Trojans to Scrimmage Vikings in Butler on Friday Night

Football season is upon us! The Trojans will kick off their preseason with a scrimmage against the Taylor County Vikings on Friday, August 2. The game will take place at Taylor County’s football stadium, located at 24 Oak Street, Butler, GA 31006. The action will begin at 7:30 PM, with tickets priced at $8.00 at the gate. This scrimmage will feature a controlled format in the first half, allowing both teams to work on their offenses and defenses. The second half will shift to a more traditional game format, with the varsity squads taking the field in the third quarter and the junior varsity players getting their turn in the fourth quarter. This setup provides an excellent opportunity for players to gain experience ahead of the regular season.

Taylor County finished last season with a 6-5 record, falling in the first round of the Class A-Division 2 playoffs to the Bowden Red Devils, the eventual state champions.

While the game won’t officially count in the standings, Lamar County holds a historical edge over Taylor County with a 7-3 record in past matchups. The last time the Trojans traveled to Butler was in 2012 when Lamar County beat Taylor County 15-0.
