Public Announcement from Lamar County Schools Regarding School Safety

Screenshot

Schools across Georgia have dealt with numerous safety hoaxes, false threats, and unfounded rumors since the tragic event last week in Apalachee High School.

The Lamar County School system is committed to maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and family. We work closely with local law enforcement and have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to equip our entire campus with the latest security devices and measures available.

We take every concern seriously. However hoaxes, rumors, and gossip only deter from our safety efforts. It’s okay, and expected, to be concerned, but creating anxiety and fear among children, parents, and staff over mistruths is counter productive and unhealthy. We want and need people to report any legitimate information or concerns to law enforcement or school officials. Social media and hearsay, especially unconfirmed information, does not assist our efforts.

We sincerely appreciate your continued support & may God continue to bless and protect the Trojan Nation.
